CSA Agreement

MOA's CSA Agreement between Farmer & Member

Please read carefully and digitally sigh below to finish the application for CSA. Print the agreement for your records.

Feats & Foibles

The natural farming system is such that we are at the mercy of nature. By becoming a member of our CSA, you have a share in the risks and rewards of farming. Together we share in the fluctuations in harvest.

Natural products have imperfections—we try to minimize this and take pride in delivering only high-quality, delicious produces. Sometimes, though, Nature leaves her (cruel) mark! If what you find in your box ever falls short of your standards, please notify us promptly!

Your investment in our harvest helps to cover the farm’s expenses of labor, seeds, water, maintenance of equipment, and stewardship. In return, you will reap the benefits of eating seasonally, securing a food source close to home, and providing for the long-term care, betterment, and protection of agricultural land and food system.

Notice that sometimes nature does not allow us to harvest vegetables on time. In these situations we ask for the help of other organic farmers, which are qualified under our natural farming standards, and acquire their produce. If we do obtain produce other than our own, you will notice a symbol at the side of the vegetables or fruit, indicating that this produce was acquired from other local organic farmer.

Communication
Call, email, or visit us! At the heart of the CSA is the relationship between farmer and consumer. With each week’s share/box, you will receive a brief note from the farmer(s), product list, and taste-tested recipe. We will also send out information about local events and updates about relevant food or health-related topics.

Most shareholders choose their pick-up location when they sign up to be a part of the CSA; if at any point you'd like to change your pick-up site, please give us at least 24-hours notice.

Procedure & Policies
It is the responsibility of the member to…

  • Pick-up his/her share between the allotted times offered at your chosen site.
  • Sign in for your box at pick up.
  • Return and fold the empty box (they are numbered!)
  • Help promote the CSA lifestyle ! For each new member you recruit, you will receive a gift certificate good for use at our market stand or through the CSA's "More, please!"
  • Let us know what works—and, more importantly, what doesn't work!

In turn, we will…

  • Provide shareholders with the finest produce our farm (and our farming friends!) has to offer—that means the freshest finds at the peak of the season!
  • Educate people about our products and therapies here at MOA.
  • Feed your appetite and feed your soul! We hope to share our passion for farming, good food, and naturescapes. Shareholders and their friends and family are always welcome to the farm and Oasis Garden for informal tours. All we ask is that you give us a day's notice so we know when to expect you.

Cancellation Policy
A sad but true reality is that CSAs don't fit every lifestyle. If you feel that CSA is not for you after one month (min. 4 deliveries Fresno and 2 LA area), you may cancel further deliveries. Shareholders must notify the farm by phone (559-324-0465) or email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. OR This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) a minimum of 7 days before your next delivery/pick-up date. Voicemails and emails must be confirmed in order to suffice as cancellation notices.

Extra Items: At each pickup site, there will be an opportunity to purchase items in addition to what's included in your box. We will include an informal order form if you'd like more of "this" or "that", and you should always feel free to ask about what else is available. If you order extra items to be included in your next delivery, the optional products will be marked clearly to avoid confusion.

Website: Please refer to our web site for more information about our farm and foundation. The Mokichi Okada Association (MOA) is a unique organization that unites nature, spirituality, and health in one philosophy. We are happy to share our therapies and activities with you.

I have read and understood the above Agreement for the MOA Nature Farm 2011 CSA Program. I am a committed share holder in this community supported venture and am aware of the risks in agriculture, which need to be shared by the whole community. I also understand that it is my responsibility to pick up my share at the farm or at one of the drop off sites each week through the 2011 growing season.

I, (Your First and Last Name) , agree to policies and regulations stated above.
